Hello everyone. Most of you ladies know me from tribe, some know me in person. I would like everyone to know each other here.
This tribe was created to ease the distribution of my music to all who would like to enjoy it in dance or in casual listening.
A little bit about me:
I live in Austin, Texas and have been here since about 1972. My mom started to belly dance when I was about 11 or 12 around 1979 - 1980. My mother is lucila, www.luciladance.com
Because of her love for the Art of Belly Dance, I inherited her passion for this art form as well as for the music. As long as I have played guitar, I have tried to emulate sounds of the Middle East.
In this new millennia, I have started to compose music for today ’s belly dancer. With acceptance of fusion in this art form, I am fusing Middle Eastern beats and melodies with western beats and melodies. *Think a hip-hop beat with a baladi beat on top of that*
I have several songs I have composed for individual dancers these are custom songs. I have also composed songs just for the fun of it and have been distributing these as well. At the moment I am trying to create a buzz for my music and plan an official CD release in the near future.
This tribe is for you, the dancer, to find me and like minded souls and discuss what music you want for you next performance.
Peace
ahmed

Re: Introductions
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 8:46 AMHi all :) I live here in Austin too - and I love Ahmed's music! I'm so glad he created a tribe for himself - wooo hoooo! :)
I'm still pretty much a newbie bellydancer - I only started a year ago. But, I'm making progress and will have my first performance this June. *knees start shaking* And, since Ahmed's mom, Lucila, is one of my teachers, it's very likely my first performance might be to one of his songs! That would sooooo coool :)
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Introductions
Wed, March 23, 2005 - 10:01 AMHi! I'm Summer from California, and I love Ahmed's music! I love the mixed stuff, I'm SO into electronic bellydance now. I bust out at clubs playing house and breaks and drum n bass all the time! LOL. I probably look like a freak, but that's cool.
Anyway, I (heart) Ahmed's music!

Re: Introductions
Wed, March 23, 2005 - 10:38 PMHi, I'm Joy, in Fresno, CA.
Having heard Ahmed's music, I cannot WAIT to use it somewhere. I loved it from first listen. Usually it takes me a while to warm up to a piece and decide I want to dance to it... but this is stuff I'll listen to while shimmying around the house.
And I'm very glad he started this tribe so we can all stay aware of what's going on with his furthered musical journeys. ;)
Good stuff. -

Re: Introductions
Thu, March 24, 2005 - 8:05 AMEee, I still wanna hear his music! It sounds so fun!
I'm Laila bint Halimeda (Halimeda is my teacher) and I'm a twenty-two (well, next week) year old dancer from Tallahassee. Actually, I'm FROM Washington DC, but I've been in Tally for four years and discovered dance here.
I do both Cabaret and ATS, although Cabaret is my first love. It is my goal to be the best zil player in the world (I figure with a totally unattainable goal, I'll never stop reaching...^_~)
Nice to meet everybody!

Re: Introductions
Tue, March 29, 2005 - 7:35 AMWelcome everyone. I have an itch to write a new piece this week after I do some drum work for Freyja of Boston.
I was thinking of doing a new work using Spanish Acoustic guitar. Not pure Flamenco but a fusion of Flamencoish/Spanishic/Middle Easternish. I think this one is going to be the best one yet. -

Re: Introductions
Sun, July 17, 2005 - 11:40 AM*entewrs, right on cue*
helloo
k-lee ("Kahlea"-pr. Kah-lee-ahh) from AZ. i am so excited to get new music. music has actually been abigger focus for me this year than it has in past years.
Music Loves:
Flamenco/spanish/guitar/emotional or happy-love the gypsy kings type of music
goth/industrial/tripped out trancey stuff-think collide, pentaphobe, generally music that fire troupes enjoy
bhangra-my newest passion.LOVE the dhol drum
belly-hop-i like it when BDance music can be fused with hip hop and rap sorts of sounds
dont much care for electronica and house music-makes me feel like i need to drop some X to get into the groove and wear some day-glo
have yet to find arabic music that speaks to me. i get ill hearing the old skool organs, violins and wailing voices. dont get me wrong, i love classical music but some of what i hear, for example, at rakkasah, over and over and over....put a furk in my eye and lace it with salt!
not finding arabic music to be passionate about makes me sad, consdiering i am a belly dancer.
i really like some of what comes out of the UK these days. seems they are modernizing a lot. Pnajabi MC has the right idea-if only he can stop making so may dang remixes of "that one song"
nice to meet you all, glad to be here, and Ahmed seems like a very fabulous personality. i look forward to hearing his music. -

Re: Introductions
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 10:45 AMinteresting comment on the 'music that fire troupes' use. I seem to like it too.
in a sence, it seems that since they are not bellydancing, they can use whatever music they want. -
-
Re: Introductions
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 11:54 PMi am starting to feel that way about music we choose to dance to though also. i am just feeling very inspired by industrial sounding, gothic, eerie, mechanical music with mid east drums involved. that would be my fave.
i have a group for you to listen to but i'll tell ya in an email cuz i want to be selfish with this one for a bit b/f i spread the word.
