Heya.
I was thinking of maybe having some zils gold plated to change the tone. What do you think?
My dad's a professional saxophone player, and he's been saving up to get his horn gold plated. It makes the tone richer and it rings more. Someone pointed out that while this may be true, you don't 'clack' a saxophone. Still, I'm dying to try.
Anybody heard of this before or have any thoughts on the subject?
This'll be a cross post, btw. Thanks, guys!

Re: Zils, Sagat

Also, if it is gold plated, eventually it will get rubbed off along where your fingers will be holding the zils as well as where you 'clack'them.
Maybe to get the true effect you want, you might need solid gold, but then again, it is a soft metal and as it heats up, it will change.
